All panel events are free and open to the public. Come and hear the filmmakers of Landlocked's official selections talk about their films and videos. Our workshop presenters will also participate in panels. This is a great chance to learn about filmmaking and also to ask questions of the experts on the panel! HOW TO ATTEND A FILM FESTIVAL Thursday, August 21, 2008 Aimed at the audience of our festival, the panel will function as a place for people to learn what goes on at film festivals, why they are important to the independent film industry, and why indie films are often far more interesting than Hollywood fare. FINDING FUNDS TO MAKE A MOVIE Friday, August 22, 2008 A perennially fascinating topic to the independent filmmaker is how to find the money to make the movie. This panel will bring together people who have been awarded grants, have self-funded their productions, and have raised funds from investors. STORIES FROM THE TRENCHES: LANDLOCKED FILMMAKERS Session I Two panels will be comprised entirely of filmmakers whose work is showing at the festival. Audience members will get to hear stories of how these intrepid filmmakers got their films made – or how they almost didn’t. Come to either session or to both. DOCUMENTARY FILMMAKING Saturday, August 22, 2008 Local documentary filmmaker Steve Holmes will moderate a panel of filmmakers who each bring their own vision of the documentary to the audience. WRITING THE SCRIPT FOR YOUR INDEPENDENT FILM Saturday, August 22, 2008 Independent film directors and producers are known for writing their own scripts. There’s an art to writing a script for a humongous Hollywood production; there’s a different art to writing a script that you intend to direct yourself. A panel of screenwriters will discuss what they consider when they intend to shoot their own scripts. |
